The Autism Curve on BBC Radio 4 claimed to cut through 'controversy and conspiracy'. It added to both. The show had a prime-time slot and was prime-time rubbish. It said nothing about the rise in severe or profound autism. It claimed to cover the 'science' and yet said nothing about the mountain of evidence that autism has a biological pathogenesis. It ended up by saying everyone is neurodiverse and there's nothing to worry about! Turbocharged befuddlement not worthy of journalism let alone the BBC.
We were told that John F Kennedy had a framed reminder in the Oval Office, " Put yourself in your opponent's shoes, examine the evidence from his point of view, avoid hypocrisy like the devil". It is about a decade since Olmsted and Blaxill showed in 'Denial' that the historical narrative strongly supported the epidemic nature of the vast increases in autism incidence, something that Dr Bernie Rimland had said nearly two decades before. Epidemics have causes. No one examines the evidence. Plus ca change....
They`ll just double down until they cant its the result of shared responsibility, so no one has to take responsibility, going along with the narrative pays the mortgage, stepping out of line is throwing your career & all those years at Uni away.
It will get worse until it probably bankrupts the benefits system and/ or local gov, then the opposition will just blame the gov policy not ask why it happened in the first place
please check out and share widely, the 15-minute film The Unseen Severe Autism, where activist Joshua Coleman takes on the hysterical media rants of 'high functioning', successful adults who raged over sound bites of RFK jr pledging to study the causes of profound autism. 'how DARE he compare THEM to those severely disabled,' was their basic complaint. their lives are just fine, don't ya know. RFK jr was so terribly offensive, they complain, talking about adults who can't use the toilet or get through the day without a meltdown. this backlash doesn't seem all that 'organic', if you ask me. ;) ;)
the film shows graphically, 'day in the life' of parents of young & older adults with severe, non-(verbal autism. nothing functioning remotely like a successful life going on there!
their are a few options to share the film, at the end of the above segment on CHD-TV. its being highly censored so the maker suggests alternative ways to share it)
I'm curious to see if this makes it past censors at all, in the UK, Jane. (awesome article, as always. I share yours often.)
